SchoolGrowthSecrets.com was set up with the aim of being a forum for school marketing and admissions personnel to share best practice, discuss issues and experiences relating to the recruitment and retention of students/ pupils. Through my own work and observations in this field over the last 17 years, I hope to offer strategic advice and tips to schools marketing and admissions professionals on growing student numbers through the posts that you’ll find on the site.

Whether you are new to the role (in which case: welcome to this very exciting profession!) and would like some tips on how to get better results in your function as a marketing and admissions personnel or you’re manager who would like to get a second opinion, I hope you will find the perspectives and opinions shared on this site useful.

A little more about me:

I am a school admissions, marketing and development specialist… with a twist! (That was just to grab your attention! The “twist” here is simply that my expertise stems from a rooted background in the Psychology of Education and teaching, in fact- and not hardcore sales and marketing.)

Years ago, when emails were referred to as “an electronic form of communication”; mobile phones were the size of a brick and iPhones only featured in futuristic sci-fi movies, I trained as a Secondary Science teacher and pursued post-graduate studies into the psychology of how children best learn. I was your enthusiastic, aspiring educator continuously looking to improve the way children learn and are taught. As the years went on, that passion evolved into a desire to promote education, where my career in education marketing began.

For the past decade and a half, I’ve devoted my career to school growth, working across a range of settings including international and independent primary and secondary schools, for both profit and not-for- profit sectors, in the UK and the Far East. It’s been a huge pleasure to see schools that I’ve worked with grow in pupil numbers; gain greater parent satisfaction; and embed efficient admissions processes, practices and systems that ensure their long-term growth and sustainability. My expertise lies in helping schools grow: through new pupil recruitment and customer retention, as well as continuous improvement in service delivery and enhancement of the customer experience.

With a background in Psychology and Education, you will find that I’m a slightly “edgier” and unique breed of sales and marketing professional. I will delve deep into the core offering, drawing out the educational purpose, understanding the school’s USP and the real benefits of the service before developing a growth strategy that is authentic and sustainable to the client.
